NV Champagne Brut, Black Label (Lanson) - France $48 (750ml), $109 (1.5L magnum!)
Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. A brilliant, clear color with amber highlights and a joyful stream of fine bubbles. Springtime aromas as well as some subtle toasty and honey notes. It has the taste of spring with hints of long-lasting honey-dew. Notes of ripe fruits and citrus give a sensation of lightness and fullness with a long, fresh finish. Perfect as an aperitif and a call to celebration.
NV Champagne Brut Rosé Saignée (Jean Vesselle) - France $54
100% Pinot Noir. Deep Rosé color. An elegant Champagne with the body and structure of a fine red wine; textured and complex. Aromas of plums, cherries, apricots, roses, violets and orange rind. Flavors of red fruit, floral notes and light smoke. Luscious and elegant. Acidity and heartiness (for Champagne) harmonize on the long finish. Pairs wonderfully with Italian charcuterie, red meats and aged cheeses.
2014 Brut Reserve (Gusbourne) - England $68
Chardonnay, Pinot Noir & Pinot Meunier. Exhibiting an attractive bronze, golden hue and a full bodied mousse, this wine has a rich, developed nose reflecting the beautifully ripe fruit of the vintage. Aromas of brioche, praline and butterscotch from extensive lees ageing are gracefully blended with the soft red fruit character. The palate is rich and round with a honeyed texture giving way to strawberries, ripe English apples and a satisfyingly long citrus finish.
2017 Montlouis, Clos Habert (François Chidaine) - France $48
100% Chenin Blanc (Pineau of Loire). Beautiful, gilded and brilliant appearance. A mere hint of sweetness,perfectly balanced by racy acidity, conveys the earthy character of Chenin Blanc. The richness and finesse combine for a long finish in the mouth.
2019 Viognier "Le Pied de Samson" (Georges Vernay) - France $65
100% Viognier. Le Pied de Samson takes its name from the giant Samson who, stooping to drink water from the Rhône, left his footprint near the estate. Aromas of peach stones, citrus, and almonds with honeysuckle and a hint of white pepper. Flavors of stone fruit, melon, and tangerine. Savory minerality with a floral edge. A pretty, juicy, vibrant wine with outstanding balance. A hidden gem from this iconic estate! Organic.
2018 SALUS Chardonnay, Rutherford, Napa (Staglin Family) - California $69
100% Chardonnay . Displays an elemental gold color and comes out swinging. Sun-ripened lemons, poached pears and tropical blossoms pour onto a medium-bodied palate of yellow orchard fruit, honeyed mango and citrus oil spiced by touches of vanilla, clove and subtle oak. This youthful and precocious wine is drinking deliciously now and should develop additional
refinement with a little time in bottle. Organic.
2015 Pernand Vergelesses Blanc 1er Cru (Chandon de Briailles) - France $95
100% Chardonnay. Pale gold color. Floral aromas of honeysuckle and apple blossom with lemon, pineapple, pear and honey. Flavors of lemon curd, tropical fruit and stone. Ample, complex, pretty and energetic. The mouth is elegant and pure, presenting a beautiful tension. Generous finish with focused minerality. Enjoy with roasted fowl, seafood, pasta or strong cheeses. Biodynamic.
2016 Cinsault Viejas Tinajas (De Martino) - Chile $40
100% Cinsault. Fermented and aged in centennial tinajas (large clay pots made from Chilean soil), a tradition originating in the first vineyards of the Itata Valley planted in 1551. Dark violet color. A floral bouquet with notes of violets, cherries, blackberries, and black fruit. Smooth, tense, and fresh on the palate with great structure and persistence. Organic.
2017 L'Aventure Optimus (Stephan Vineyards) - California $60
Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Deep ruby color. Aromas of berries with soft cola, faint graphite notes and flowers. Flavors of dark berries with licorice, leather and smoky herbs. The fruit is seamlessly integrated, and the wine is long and well structured in the mouth. Long, delicious; incredibly complex and elegant. Wonderful on its own. Try paired with roast chicken, pasta with flavorful sauces or roasted vegetables.
2017 Bon Sauvage Estate Pinot Noir (Illahe) - Oregon $75 (1.5L magnum!)
100% Pinot Noir. Strong aromas of cedar and fresh plum. Red flavors of raspberry and strawberry, paired with dark flavors of black cherry and blackberry give this blend a strong backbone and bold palate. Clear but not overwhelming notes of oak. The smooth tannins and strong structure give it what it needs to survive in the bottle for years to come. A very Burgundian wine.
2012 Boca (Le Piane) - Italy $78
Nebbiolo and Vespolina. Flavors reminiscent of well-matured forest fruits, violets, tobacco and dried herbs with hints of balsam and citrus. Power and a silky elegance will develop in the mouth, fascinating and playful, with a slightly noble and bitter final note. The vast complexity of taste allows one to discover new facets over and over again.
2015 St. Emilion Grand Cru (Chatea Chante-Alouette-Cormeil) - France $87 (1.5L magnum!)
Cormeil and Chante-Alouette, “The Song of the Skylark” is in the northwest quadrant of the Saint-Emilion appellation near Figeac and Pomerol. The soil is called “sables anciens” and consists of windblown sands on top of iron-rich sandstone. There is also blue clay mixed throughout. The grape varieties planted are: 65% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is cellared in 2 and 3-year-old barrels for 24 months before bottling. The wine is not filtered and therefore will throw a deposit. It is recommended that the wine be decanted before serving to avoid any sediment and to let the wine breathe.
